The Young Liars – They Come With Their Own Spotlight!
At long last, this Thursday the 24th, The Young Liars drop their cd “Homesick Future” and follow it up March 2nd with their release partay in Vancouver at Fortune Sound, featuring Blondtron.
Having already taken their place in the CMJ Spotlight, the music don’t lie. This is a fun band with cool music, a cool light show (uhm seriously: “..sweet-ass lasers, and their home-built lighting rig!) and even Vic Levak, Producer and member of the band Balligomingo became an instant fan as well and wanted to chime in:
“Upon first listen, Young Liars certainly have a British Influenced sound and I love the spacey landscapes and driving drums. Some of their the vocal phrasing reminds of early Beatles
and their shimmering guitar tones are reminiscent of the Cure. I really enjoyed listening to these guys.”
And on their own behalf:
“On February 24th we will release our first EP. It has been a year of work: we started in March of 2010 and we give it to you now in February of 2011. Its been an interesting year. We’ve gotten married, moved, changed jobs and become a better band. This EP includes songs from our very first rehearsals and songs that finished only two weeks ago. It’s been a labour of love and we now want to share it with you.
It was recorded at The Claymore Studios in Abbotsford, BC, Canada over the last year. It was engineered and produced by Digory Smallz and mastered at Abbey Road Studios by Christian Wright (Foals, LCD Soundsystem, Bjork).
The title comes from the hope and fear of what’s to come, and once you get there, the feelings of nostalgia over your past.
We did this as much for you as we did it for ourselves. Enjoy.”
If you’re going to grab some vinyl in the near future, this would be the one to get.
