Anyone planning on attending this year's POP Montreal festival can start planning well in advance; the venerable MTL music fest has just unveiled a sneak peek of its 2012 line-up.
Some of the names slated to play include the "Godfather of Disco" Jimmy "Bo" Horne, famed Romanian brass band Fanfare Ciocărlia, hip-hop legend and media guru Lil' B, enigmatic French retro-futurist Bertrand Burgalat, a performance of Yamantaka Sonic Titan's opera 33 and the dubbed out psychedelia of Gang Gang Dance.
American Idol contestant Jacob Lusk will also perform a set of R. Kelly covers backed by a Montreal all-star band. Billboard chart toppers Grizzly Bear, Chilly Gonzales, Dirty Three and Hot Snakes are also slated to appear.
This year's event will also see the return of POP Vs. Jock, a charity/celebrity basketball tournament that will raise funds for DJ Sports Club. POP Montreal will also partner with Librairie Drawn & Quarterly for a conversation with David Byrne and Win Butler of Arcade Fire. Butler will be speaking to Byrne about his new book for McSweeney's How Music Works.
The festival will also feature ART POP, FILM POP, PUCES POP and KIDS POP.
Early bird passes are available here until June 30th.
