Harbourfront Centre has announced the line-up for the 2012 Soundclash Festival as well as the shortlist of artists nominated for cash and prizes worth $10,000.

The event, which takes its name from the competitions between reggae-DJ crews in Kingston, Jamaica in the 1950’s, will take place from July 13 to 15. A panel made up of musical tastemakers and audience members will decide on who wins the grand prize.

The shortlist of nominees include OPOPO (Pictured), Rich Kidd, Chloe Charles, Progress and the Rebel Alliance, LAL and Gyles. International artists Orchestre Poly-Rythmo de Cotonou and Detroit rapper Elzhi are also slated to perform. Other fest highlights include international dance crews and DJs facing off in a competition called Braggin’ Rights.

All events are completely free. For details, head here.
