Papermaps Set to Play Horseshoe Tavern to Celebrate EP Launch, Inferior Ghost Available via Sparks Music August 28th, 2012

Toronto indie rockers Papermaps are anxiously awaiting the upcoming CD release show for their new EP Inferior Ghost (Sparks Music/Universal Music Canada). The five-piece are set to take the stage at the Horseshoe Tavern’s Nu Music Nite on August 28 in support of the new release. Inferior Ghost was released digitally on August 14, and will be available as CD and vinyl at the upcoming show. In anticipation of Inferior Ghost, Papermaps released a music video for ‘There Are Wolves’ earlier this week. The video can be seen here.
Inferior Ghost marks a stylistic change for the band’s sound, but in a way that new fans will adore and old ones will embrace. Stampede Six recently reviewed the EP saying, “It continues to impress the whole way through,” and citing the first single ‘There Are Wolves’ as a standout favourite. The tracks that comprise this release mark the last ever recordings from Chemical Sound, the studio owned by lead singer Dean Marino, and home base for the band, which closed in early 2012 and housed recordings from The Black Keys, Sloan, and more.
Prior to their Toronto show, Papermaps have been touring with stops in Montreal, Halifax, and Ottawa, bringing their new tunes to the masses. The summer has treated the band well with a kick-off at North by Northeast and a month-long residency at The Drake Hotel in July. If that is any indication for what the fall will bring, be certain that Papermaps will be taking over the rest of Canada in no time.
