Nominations for the 5th Annual Shadow Polaris Are Now Open
This is the 5th year that we’ve done the Shadow Polaris at NxEW. It is a chance for fans, any and all fans, to tell us what should have been on the Polaris long list, the Polaris short list and who should have won.
In 2009 Julie Doiron won with I Can Wonder What You Did With Your Day. In 2010, the Wooden Sky’s If I Don’t Come Home You’ll Know I’m Gone in 2011 the Russian Futurists the Weight’s on the Wheels won and in 2012 Lindi Ortega’s Little Red Boots was the pick of NxEW readers. None of these albums made the short list in the official Polaris Prize.
Nominating an album is easy. Any Canadian album released between June 1, 2012 and May 31, 2013 is eligible. All of the albums on the official 2013 Polaris Music Prize long list will automatically be included (just to save anyone the trouble of re-nominating obvious picks). If you’d like to nominate an album that is not on the list simply leave it in the comments, Tweet it to @NxEW or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Nominations are open until July 5 at midnight (11:59) and then voting in round 1 will get underway.
