Boots & Hearts Artist Spotlight Dean Brody & Jordan McIntosh
Everyone has a country music story to tell, some of us more than one. I personally have a few country music story’s and one of them has to do with today’s feature artist Dean Brody. My life story isn’t much different than most, except of course how it began.
In July 1974 I was born in Mississauga, Ontario, one month later I was adopted by a young couple in Northern Ontario. My life was everything I could ask it to be, I traveled regularly, experienced culture and got an education. People would ask me all the time if I ever thought of my biological mother and what she was like and my answer was always no. I never had a reason to think about an alternative life or different parents, I had a great life and amazing parents (I still do). I never once believed that the day would ever come where I would meet my biological mother but a few years ago a message on Facebook changed every everything. The message was from my biological grandmother and so began the chain of events that would inevitably cause our trails in life to cross for the first time in 36 years. Interestingly enough this all happened right around the same time as Dean Brody’s 3rd single, off his sophomore album, “Trail in Life” was on the Canadian airwaves. For those who are unfamiliar with the song, it tells the story of a man who wonders what happened to the teenage mother who gave him up for adoption. This is Dean Brody, I dare you to tell me that you can’t find at least one of his songs that you can relate to. Whether it’s his first single “Brothers”, “Trail in Life” or even one of his more recent singles “Bob Marley” or “It’s Friday”.
This young man is vying for the coveted emerging artist nod which will get him on stage opening up for Dierks Bentley on Sunday August 4. If he wins he will also win a single release from Big Machine Label Group Canada.
18 year old Jordan was born and raised in the Ottawa area of eastern Ontario and as his latest single says he “Grew Up in a Country Song”. He’s also one of the humblest guys you’ll ever meet, although I personally haven’t had the opportunity but I know that his fan interaction through social media is second to few.
Jordan ranked second in the online voting which has since closed. All 8 finalists will perform at 12pm on August 1 on the SiriusXM Front Porch Stage to determine the two finalists.
Jordan’s future in country music is a bright one but winning this competition will certainly help give his career a kick start, just ask tomorrow’s feature artist, Tate Stevens, about that. Jordan you already know you have my vote! For more information, or to connect with Jordan visit him online at www.jordanmcintosh.ca
